Cordwalles Junior School

School description:

Cordwalles Junior School provides a stimulating learning environment for all children, we pride ouselves on having no invisible children.  We are situated in Camberley, Surrey, just off juntion 3 or 4 of the M3.  We have 175 children on role.  Within our school we have a small, 7 place, Special Needs Support Unit.  The school day currently runs from 8.35 to 3.15, though we are working on restructuring this for September 2010.

At Cordwalles we are proud of how ICT literacte our children are and we are commited to continuously developing this.  Every class has a laptop trolly (housing 20 laptops) and there is an additional laptop trolly available, also with 20 laptops.  This alows children to have access to a laptop 1:1 or 1:2 throughout the entire school day to support their learning.  We have a wireless network aproviding easy acces to the Internet and a Curriculum Server, which both children and staff have access to.

ICT teaching is embedded in the school’s creative curriculum, with ICT skills being taught in each subject area.  Dedicated ICT teaching also takes place and is supported by our ICT Technician.

A variety of programmes are used and skills are taught.  This includes word processing, data handling, digital photography, animation, multimedia presentations, podcasting and control technology.

We are currently working with our local secondary school to further develop the ICT teaching and strengthen transition links from Year 6 to Year 7.  We are also working towards the ICT Mark and hope to achieve this later in the school year.
