Dartford Technology College is an oversubscribed, non-selective 11-16 girls’ school with a mixed 6th Form, located on the Kent side of the border between Kent and the London Borough of Bexley. It serves a very mixed socio-economic area which includes three non-selective schools, four grammar schools and an Academy, and is in the middle of the region being developed as part of the Thames Gateway Regeneration Programme. The college is an innovative and exciting place to learn and work.

DTC is a phase four technology college having first achieved specialist status in 1997. DTC’s second, Vocational specialism, was achieved in 2007.

The college received specialist achievement awards over three successive years, was awarded a SSAT Futures Vision award (2005), and achieved the ICT mark in 2007. DTC had a successful Ofsted inspection (2004), received the Healthy Schools award (2006), the Basic Skills Quality Award, the QiSS award (2006) and the Investors in People award (2005). An IAG green code award was achieved for careers advice and guidance (2007). DTC is a leading TeachNet contributing school and participates in the Oracle ThinkQuest webdesign project.

Collaborating with other schools is central to the college’s development and DTC is part of the Dartford Partnership of schools. Training and INSET are crucial to the college’s development; we are members of the KMT SCITT consortium of fifteen successful schools in the Kent and Medway areas, providing post graduate teacher training. DTC supplies the web site, forum and ICT training for KMT. DTC is a designated Partnership Promotion School.

As well as providing ICT technical support for the Dartford Partnership of schools, a range of curriculum activities are undertaken annually. The college has a long standing relationship with a private ICT company – Ellite Consulting – which, together with DTC, provides ICT support for many other local Primary schools in addition to the Dartford Partnership of schools.

DTC has recently moved into new state of the art buildings at the heart of the Dartford Learning Campus, which is designed to support lifelong learning.
